87 Hatch engine idenity question

Hello everyone. long time fan first time poster. Both are Fuel injected.
I purchased an 87 LX-I Hatchback yesterday(140$) to either run or parts for my 88 LX-I Sedan. I was more than positive that I purchased an A20 at first glance. The person who sold it to me thought it was a "1.6", but seeing as the intake and valvecover looked the same as my 88sedan. After further inspection the intake for my 88 is a two piece with butterflies, the 87 is all once piece. This got me to thinking, if the intake is different what else is different? Does my option to put the hatch motor in the sedan still a road I should go down?
I will get photos up in the future but off these facts do I have a B20 on my hands? Salvage title not sure what year it was wrecked, looks fixed have not taken the time to look harder. Any all info would be appreciated Thank you,

P.S. Engine identification number somewhere easy to get to? left hand side of the motor?

Only manuals i can find represent the 88 intake.

most likely still a a20a if the main difference you can tell between the two is just the intake manifold. the 86-87 accords had the one piece intake manifolds and the 88-89s had the ones with the butterflies in them. you can find out what engine you have by looking on the block on the left had side, pretty much beside the exhaust manifold

long as there both a20's you can just swap he block. might be a compression difference?

the later ones had more horsepower, but i'm not sure what year it changed, I believe it was because of the intake. I know more about the carb ones, if you have the higher horsepower engine, it shouldn't take much at all to get it running in your car, since you had FI before. nearly identical, as far as mounting, it bolts right in, the block is the same. check with the FI guys to see what you need to do to get it up and running

had one of those intakes on my 2g prelude hooked up to a switch i mounted on my shifter, was good stuff in high rpms =P

he should be able to hook it up just like factory, there's not much difference i'm just not sure exactly how it works.

it uses a vacuum thing basically like the secondary on a carb, not exactly the same, but same basic idea

he would probably have to wire the car up for it, since i doubt the 86-87 has the wiring for something it never had. will also have to swap ECUs

The 86-87 EFI A20A3 has only an 8.8 compression ratio The carb has 9.0 and the 88-89 EFI has 9.1

Good thing I have a complete motor for each car then huh? It is still up in the air but I might keep the 87 all together

he should be able to just swap everything from the 88, they are both fuel injection ,just swap in the harness and the ecu. swapping a car with existing fuel injection, to the upgraded fuel injection should be pretty easy.
