I've got a cam gear for sale, they are a discontinued item now. As far as cam option goes, search around in this forum, make sure to use the search function built into the forum tool menu.
I am just starting my search for a 3rd gen daily driver
Is there a compilation of all differences in trim levels?
Which ones had options for power windows/locks etc?

The "i" in LX-i and SE-i indicate a fuel-injected engine. In general, the carbs seem to get a little better MPG than injected models, but the injected models are more reliable. You want an injected model definitely.

Well I have an 87 lx and a 89 sei and the guages on both of them are inward.
lowering it would help handling as the front end would become like a snow plow lol... seriously our 97 coupe handled fantastic in snow due to being pretty low and having good tires on it... used to drive in front of the plows all the time lol...
Carb cars are geared for fuel economy. they are also lighter. and run a bit more lean.
truth.
only 86 had the ugly cluster.

Yeah, I don't have anything empirical. I was just going from anecdotal reports from our carb guys here. It seems like those carb cars top out somewhere around 40 MPG, whereas the best the FI cars can do is somewhere around 35 MPG. I think they geared the carb cars a little higher, so that might explain it. The only empirical evidence I was able to find were the ratings from www.fueleconomy.gov:

It's not a big difference, but the carbs are a little higher.

^ Not necessarily. I've gotten close to 50mpg highway in my car, but mixed driving (city/highway and easy/hard) I get 35mpg.
