    Quick Question ( possibly )

Anyone know what the differences are between the 1988 and the 1989 Accord LXi's both being in the US domestic market ?

Nothing really. Maybe some color options and a few dealer add-ons. Charlie would know for certain if he were still around.

Hello not sure if this has been answered or not; is the suspension from a 3g (87 in particular) accord hatch compatible with the sedan? What parts are compatible between the two, and possibly the coupe as well? And any sites with parts for the hatch? It seems to be a rare car! Mines a dx hatch with FI & 5 spd

dx hatch should be carb. unless you bought it from someone who converted it to fuel injection. the DX has manual windows.

very small differences but everything is still the same. The only thing i can think of is that in 89 honda put a clutch switch so you need to press down the clutch to turn on the car. My 1988 coupe did not have have and once i left it in gear. it woke me up quick when the car jumped 2-3 feet forward. the 1989 also came had a SE-i model that came with leather seats and rear disk. painted mirrors and dual tip muffler.

That happened to me once, only... there was a parking barrier in front of me that made a mess of my bumper. I was too poor to do anything about it, so I drove it like that for years before selling the car to someone else. :-(

I've made a habit of pressing the clutch even if the car didn't come with the switch but then I would forget every once in a while. But I also made a habit of checking if the car is in neutral at least 3 times

Don't get me started with the remote start. I was installing one on a customer's car and I thought I'd give it a test and bypassed all the safety measures and boom it started in gear and almost ran over my foot. Crushed a couple of stuff but thankfully nothing (or noone) is hurt lol.

How did I left it in gear really???

the remote start stuff can be dangerous, my father worked on a camaro that had a remote start and nearly cut his finger off with the fan

Cheapest auto insurance in California for just liability , cars are 88 and 89 lxi coupes , so in total 2 cars 1 driver clean driving record age is over 25. Anyone have suggestions. Also approximate cost as I am on a borrowed budget until work picks up.

Nope nothing will fit from the sides but Ive seen a front doghouse clip morphed on a 3rd gen before, looked lke it fit about like a 90's GM product looks...like resteraunt converted to a funeral home...but hell it somewhat works.

Ok,cheers. There are less than 100 third gen survivors in the UK so I am having problems finding a solution to rotten rear door bottoms and replacements. Do they do repair panels in the U.S?

over here we have plenty of 3rd gen accords. if you need to restore it you would need to cut make new panels to weld in. If you join the facebook page you might be able to find a few members from the UK

All right, I know that I'm probably just missing some information, but ill ask here. So what type of front seat belts does the 86-89 lxi hatchbacks from America normally have? my Honda is from January of 86, white paint, blue interior and it has wall mounted seat belts. Some jerk backed into me in a parking lot, so I needed to replace the door, but the only replacement was from an 87 lxi with gold/beige and auto trans. The seat belts were door mounted.... I was wondering which one was normal, and if there is any rarity to either. Thanks!

My 88 LX-i has the door mounted seat belts. So, I believe that type seat belt was standard on some years.

the 86-87 had pillar mounted seatbelts on 88-89 they used door mounted seatbelts. since the coupes came out in 1988-89 they all had door mounted seat belts.

I live in the rustbelt of ohio. Picked up a damn clean 5spd 89 2dr accord with leather.
It says sti on the back but ive never heard of sti. What does it stand for?
Is it a rare find in this year?
