    Enkei GF1???

Hey 3geez, I'd just like to say that I've been a lurker here for too long and that this is my first post ever on any forum. I don't know if this should be posted in the Newbie Section, so sorry if this is a mistake. I'd also like to say that you guys have a great community here, but I'm a 17 year old noob and please bear with me. So, I have a '87 Hatchback LX-i with 89,000 miles currently being repainted white and getting its rust fixed. For the past week, I have been searching for some new wheels for her and I stumbled upon the Enkei GF1s for a good price. I took a look at them a few days ago and I liked them. But my concern is the size. From what I have been reading, I understand that 15s are the best way to go with our cars. But the Enkeis are 16s with an offset of 42 and on 205/50/16 tires. I have also read that something like 225/45/17 are huge for it. I just don't want to make the mistake of getting some rims that don't fit right. And just for some added info, the car will eventually see a drop with some Tokicos shocks and Sprint or H&R springs or whatever seems like the best combo. Thanks 3Geez!!!

Thanks for the response Messy! Yeah, the Enkeis have 8 holes for both 4x100 and 4x114.3 bolt patterns, so they will bolt on. You say that your tires rub a little in the back. Would you recommend any drop less than the 1.5 in. drop that the H&R's give without compromising looks? Are Eibach's any good? Your advice would be helpful.

    Welcome
I ran the H&R's on my 89 before I got my Goldline springs, the ride was great. I currently have Eibachs on my daily and I feel that they are too soft a ride.
Where about in the Bay are you from?

On a 16x7 wheel, I'd go with a 205/45/16 tire. That will keep your speedometer the most accurate and they won't rub.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind for later because the Enkeis are coming with pretty fresh tires.
