A18A's 1989 Accord CA Thread

I'm making a new thread cause my other one went gay (here it is if you wish to view). Before continuing, I'll sum up that thread in a couple posts and then continue from there.

I have another Accord that I use as a daily driver, which means I can have a proper long term project car that I can take my time on & not rush it just cause I need to go somewhere the next day. YAY! Anyway, I'm not entirely sure on what I plan on doing to the car yet, other than a full de-rust of it and painting it another color. This build will probably be pretty slow, cause money says so. But I'll keep updating the thread cause I like documenting everything I do. blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. Now to the car.

And then I took a few things for my other car, so kinda left the car neglected for a couple months

Now time for the first update in this thread yay. I got motivated today, so I pulled almost everything out of the interior, pulled off the doors, front panels and almost finished delooming the whole car. Stripping the car is the easy and fun part

For some reason, i realy like the red interior.. those seats look class lol. Though i also like the black interior, so i guess it works for me ither way.

I didn't get to do much today cause I had other things to do. I got the rest of the interior (that needed to be removed) out, everything I didn't pull out of there, has no reason to come out. Here's a couple more photos.



A mate also let me use this rust remover/converter stuff, which actually works yay. I managed to get one (of over 9000) rust spots mostly done. I'm trying to avoid grinding the rust away cause it looks untidy.


I pushed the car outside for the night so the rain will hopefully rinse it out. If I'm lucky, maybe someone will let me borrow their water blaster lol.

if tomorrow's a fine day, I can pull off the rest of the stuff & clean the engine bay up a bit. Maybe start on rust removal!

welderrrrrrr mines rusted there too cause someone rear ended the at at some stage lol

got buy some por15 from a paint shop thats good at fixing rusty shit also

yeah heard heaps about that por-15 stuff, will have to go get me some. i cut a mint unrusted boot catch section out of my old car before i dumped it, lucky lol

I chopped it out of my NZ new shitter, I noticed the NZ new cars don't rust in that particular spot as bad as JDM ones do (Y)

I now have the car stripped to a satisfactory level (minus the rear suspension, tank & such) I pulled off the front sub frame & gave the engine bay a bit of a rinse. I can lift the front of the car up myself now, but it's still too heavy for just myself to move around.

I'm hoping I wont have to remove the rear windscreen to fix these ones


I need to go get my drill off my mate and get a wire wheel so I can start on the little bits of rust. But first I should go clean up all my mess this car left in the shed & drive way
