Ok, so I'm new here. I've been trolling around for a while using this info to help keep my stepdad's car running for the last year. Well, since my 93 Saturn took a crap a few months ago , my stepdad gave me his 86 LXi hatch when he got a different car and I've decided to fix it up some. Car is graphite grey with grey interior and has 388k miles on it.
So far what I've done since I've taken possession of it is:
*replace tires (cheap Douglas tires from Wal-Mart for now)
*replace valve cover gasket
*remove hubcaps
*replaced dist. cap and plug wires
*rattlecanned the bumpers with black Krylon Fusion
(they were faded, almost sunbleached)
*left half-shaft replaced
Just basic stuff.
Problems needing addressing:
*bumpers are out-of-whack
*missing some wheel studs
*oil leak (Next target: Front main seal)
*can't set cruise control (green indicator lights up though)
*passenger window slow going up
*rust under right tail light
*sometimes idles up and down bewteen 1200-2000 rpm
*ecu code 12 (EGR)
*missing interior trim pieces such as the plastic that goes over the front pillars.
Most of these I've found fixes for by searching the forum, just haven't gotten around to fixing them or haven't had the cash to.
So far the only planned, yet non-essential, projects I have on deck besides the above mentioned fixes are to do a full LED conversion complete with doing clear lenses and getting some lowering springs.
So far I've made the lenses for the bumper. Nothing fancy, just clear lexan cut to shape. Next I plan on getting my hands of a spare set of corner and tail lenses to take apart and remove the colored plastic from.
(Pictures of the ugly little thing coming later)
