    ok thanks Stat1k

um ok so i now have money to do the rebuild on the motor but im doing the labor myself since i got estimates of $1800 for a rebuild or a new "JDm" A20A3 from japan as they told me for $1200 with labor included... dont really that much to spend but i wanna learn on how the engine works and maybe do a high compression later or now?> what do you guys think?

and found this site with the rebuild kit...
    http://www.rpmmachine.com/shop/index..._detail&p=4636

i also read to go with stock honda pistons and i might get the bisi valve springs...

    Re: Shyboy's 89 Coupe

Removed some hoses and black box.

    Next:
    1. remove hood

    2. Pull engine

    3. Rebuild engine

I'm a little nervous of pulling the motor as this will be my first time.

as for taking apart a motor done a bit of practicing at the junk yard before getting mine out.

anyone recommend anything while i pull or start work on the engine? thanks in advance.

and no matter how much time you take you WILL lose stuff and need to hit a junkyard... lol especially if its your first time... one great word of advice is to put bolts back were they go and take pics... lots of pics

if your going to rebuild it i'd buy an engine stand, a torque wrench, a breaker bar, a legit engine hoist, ziploc baggies and index cards, and if youre working outside to pull the motor out but one of those gazebo tent things. itll protect you and your car from rain.

well the engine has really low compression in 3 Cylinders and dont know how bad the inside is.

    throws alot of white smoke

    Re: Shyboy's 89 Coupe

not really and if you ever plan on having to this again you'll save the trouble plus you dont have a certain usage time. and even if you dont ever use them again in your life these things keep there value strongly so you can alway turn around and sell them again. and engine stand is like 40 bucks for a 1 ton (which is plenty of strength seeing how my motor weighed 301 lbs with both manifolds and a clutch on it) a hoist is about 90-120 but will make this job SO much easier and pain free, you NEED a torque wrench for any kind of quality rebuild and it will always come in handy to have one for later on down the road. those are like 20 bucks at walmart. and the breaker bar can honestly be made with a piece of plumbing tubing and a regular rachet (a strong ratchet not a dollar store rachet.) all together you can get these tolls for around 200-250 bucks and youll have the best set of auto tools any DIY'er could ask for. its worth it dude trust me. just remember that its better to do it right the first time than to mess up and have to redo stuff.... like me and my windshield, and all misc things.

    Re: Shyboy's 89 Coupe

Well I'm doing relocation for the fuse box and will not be keeping the black box for the engine but will be going obd1 when I get the fixed.

I've been thinking of just replacing the head gasket then doing a rebuild on the motor.

I'm selling my transmission to Ace to help him keep his car for school since I seen him put a lot of work in the car.

Well that's all for my update ill be posting in the weekend on the progress thanks for reading.
