    Unhappy throttle angle. code 7

has anyone got this code before? most would see it as the "throttle position sensor", but the 89 lxi apparently doesnt have a tps. does anyone know how to fix this?

It does have a tps. There wires on your TB you see them. It gives a 0-5 v signal. Rarely fails so I would look for broken wires loose connection.

The code indicates a problem in the circuit that controls the TPS. You will need to troubleshoot the circuit to find out what's going on. The '89 shop manual is available here. The troubleshooting section for the TPS starts on p. 12-28. Proceed through the section until you've identified the problem. You will need a multimeter.

I notice your screen name is 89accordvtec. I'm assuming you have the stock A20, non-VTEC, engine in there and we're not talking about some exotic engine swap. If that's not the case, just post back what you're running.

i picked up a multimeter from autozone, and when i got back and checked the led on the ecu, its only showing the egr lift valve no. 12 like it has done since i got the car. and not no. 7 anymore. any ideas what could make the throttle angle sensor malfunction for just a short time?
