    What is shallow mount? shallow mount is referring to the mounting depth of the speaker..

    Pretty sure most sedans are 6" in the rear except for the SE-i which has 6x9's.

    Shallow mount means that its more slim. Its height isnt as high as a normal speaker.

    I put 6.5s in my hatch and that was to big so I had to mod it. I removed the original metal bracket and drilled screw holes into a block of wood that was 1 in thick. Then mounted the speaker into that. It fits like a charm. The only thing I hate about it is... Wood causes unneeded vibration which at super high volumes becomes noticable. I know its not the speakers because I mounted the same brand (not size) speaker in my front doors. They can be bumped full and not sound like shit.
