the car will look gay with an outboard gas generator to power that bitch though..

LOL!!! true...true... If I ever got into competition though... I would murder peoples shit with two eclipse 15's and that Amp...

man we cant do nothin wit that...
we only a have 65 amp alternators.
That damn thing would pull over 130A!
yes but we can put more powerful alt.'s in our cars....

and where can you get one?Originally posted by 87AccordsterLx

show it to me.
Alex.
well first off the amp mentions that it will peak in the area of 50A... second... a 1990 accords Alt. runs 90A and will physically fit in our cars....

Sounds like a howto project in the works. I'll be damned if I'm doing it though, I just replaced my alt. :P Maybe we could draw straws...

hmmm, i think my local junk yard has the 1990 accord.
i have to check on that one.
that would be awesome if it does fit on our engine.
Alex.
...... here is a link that I found a while back which led me to that conclusion.... it is actually the same senerio that we are discussing...

but u see, efi guys can swap it if they want to because the altenator has 4 pins in it. but our 3g carb has just 3 pins in it. so a 4g accord altenator, no matter its a dx, lx, or a ex or even a se. it just wont fit on the carb cars.
hmm... interesting... I wonder if there is someway to work around that....

Since the alternator and the type of fuel system shouldn't directly affect each other, I would assume you can ground something to make it work.

i think that you can use it and just not hook up the last post. there is a thread about distributors somewhere that mentions that.

Alright, you have to factor ~10 amps for every 100 watts of power... this is why you can burn out your alternator running a 900 watt amp. That amp would be very nice... but it would require a bigger alternator.
As for the 3-pins over 4... I read on here that it makes no difference, the extra wire on the 4 pin goes to the ECU for FI cars, so it just runs to nothing on Carbed cars. I am very interested in the findings on whether a '90 Accord alternator will fit, because I am in need of upgrading mine.
YEAH!!!! Did I find out a new mod or what????!?!?

i like the part about 5 minute installation.

Bluecoma... what drop are you running??? are they coilovers?? Your car would look sooo clean with some clear blinker signals and cornermarkers with some 17's or 16's on it.... nice job though....

however long it takes you to install your stock alternator, that's how long it will take you to install that mean green one... on my lude, it takes a bit longer than 5 minutes, as i'm sure most of you know, cause i do believe you guys have your alternators in the back of the engine...
you could always take your alternator you have now to a shop and have it rewound to a higher amperage... most heavy bass applications you're going to want more than just a 20 amp or so bump on your alternator... i didn't look at the specs on that amp, but i'm betting that you will be way underpowered with a stock or even a 90 amp alternator... i'd go something like 120 if you plan on seriously bumping...

hey merlin... you should throw on sideskirts and the rest of the rear kit on that lude... it would Stock Car style.....

if only that lude were mine!!!! that's an old King Motorsports track car... car is lowered, probably 'bout an 1" and a half, that big ass lip keep the front end planted, pretty much just a big extension off the stock bumper... and there's no real reason to have sideskirts and a rear on a car where how pretty it looks isn't an issue... as for stock cars, NASCAR, even though they aren't anywhere near stock, doesn't have rear ends... same thing with CART and F1, if you have too low of a rear end, the air below your car doesn't find it's way out the back end and you lose alot of possible downforce...

just get a cap and a 2end battery
You think no one could compete w/ that amp and 2 15' eclipses??????
What about 2 15" JL's? If you put 2 JL 12" to your ears at full power you will go def
I think that the JL's would completely over power those "eclipses"
first off... the emphisys was twards the amp more then the speakers... second I wasnt being technical someone can always compeate with you no matter what... theres no question that JL subs are good subs... shit their 13w7 can handle 4000w .... thats not the point... the point is that eclipse puts out amasing electronics... far superior to JL... if you ever go to custom car audio and sound shows... look inside their car at their H/U... your definitly not going to see JL thats just not possible ... it will most likely be Eclipse.... look at thier amp... hmm if they wont to push more then 1000w with one amp its sure not going to be JL.... the fact of the matter is... you cant find a JL amp that will out perform an eclipse...2 eclipse subs will handle the amp that I posted just fine... go see if your 1000w JL will compete with the 2000w amp that I posted... haha... good luck
