I posted here about 8 years ago, when I used my older brothers 1986 LXi Accord as the first car I learned how to drive on, etc etc. Back then I was in highschool if not just graduated highschool as well.
Well I took the easy way out in performance and left 3rd gen accord, hell left the Honda scene altogether and got into Nissans. Particularly into the 240sx as I prefer a rwd platform and its weight is near identical to a 3 geez. (~2600 lbs for an S13) And the engine swap options for this vehicle are literally endless. Right now Im on my 4th 240sx, and the current specs are as follow.
Currently,I am using a temporary engine, as my oil pump in the built sr20det went out at 8000 rpms and caused a bit of damage (only need to replace crank, rods, bearings and obv oil pump.)
So temporary engine specs are as follow:
Unopened stock sr20det long block.
Greddy Oil Pan.
Blitz k3 turbo kit.
BC 264 duration cams.
850 cc sard injectors.
Dual Walbro fuel pump setup.
Greddy style intake manifold.
ECU Rom tuned for E85 only, with ignition timing well advanced over stock.
Z32 Maf, full size greddy fmic, full 3 inch 5zigen exhaust, test pipe etc.
Car itself,
Tokiko adjustable struts, and springs
300zx TT slotted and drilled brakes.
J30 vlsd.
5zigen GN+ wheels 17x9.5 in rear and 17x8.5 up front.
Tiny 255/45 rear tires that have a hard time getting traction in lower gears.
I have this in bonestock long block at 22 psi, making around 400+ rwhp, with stock headgasket, and have accidentally overboosted to 28 psi with no issues, nissan did this 4 banger right! Best kill? I would have to say a F430, followed by the zx6r.
I am currently rebuilding another SR, that I will put back in, and Today I will be picking up my new turbo setup to a T3/T4 57 trim, BB unit, good for an extra 50-100 rwhp and more low end.
You may be asking why the hell did I comeback to post this? This is a honda board who the hell cares about nissans right? Well my brother never lost his love for the 3rd gen accord. And he got another one, this time its a 1988 LXi automatic. Unfortunately he got a lemon, as he blew his engine! Unfortunately he is not a car guy at all, so he dropped at my house for me to tinker with it. He is upset about his misshap and wants to get rid of it! But I think it can be saved! And with you guys help I might be able to source another engine for cheap! I am glad to have another 3rd gen in the family!
I will post pics of both if you made it this far!
