Also if you buy a repair manual for $10 at the local parts store it has a lot of info in there. With this though there is an easier way i found to take it off n replace it. The repair manual tells you to take the axel n all out n drop it out the bottom, i just took off my master cylinder and pulled it out the top. It only took 15mins that way but you need to be careful.
easiest way to change it is to take it out from the top, at least on the FI engines. Didnt need to remove the MC. Just remove the airbox and you will have enough room

while im at it, im doing to do the timing belt...how do i know if the tensioner is bad?

i thinking of getting the timing belt kit. a Mitsuboshi timing belt, an Aisin water pump w/ gasket, and a Koyo tensioner bearing.
are the water pumps metal stock? how longs their life time?
The tensioner should not spin freely, it should have a slight drag. I have had the same tensioner on one of my accords since I got it back in 1992.
Although, not knowing the full history of a vehicle, it would be wise to replace the crank/cam/oil pump seal. Timing belt & tensioner, also the water pump.

ha, i remember when i went to do my ALT
ended up throwing the car about 4 feet in the air on about 7 different types of jacks, and tore the axle out.
took about......4 hours, 13 beers, 2 torque wrenches, and one side mirror (i got frustrated, and took it out with the torque wrench)
if you plan on doing the timing belt, replace everything it touches bar the cam gear and crank pulley.
belt, tensioner,idler.
and its always a good idea to do the water pump and other belts at the same time
You're fuel injected, just remove the stock airbox and pull the alternator up and out.
what about the belt?
