    FS: 1981 Accord

5 Speed, base model - no A/C, power steering, etc. $1500.00

The good: Original paint except driver's door and quarter panel. Paint has exceptional shine for 29 year old paint. Complete new exhaust system, including catalytic converter (81's are the only year of 1gee with a cat.) Four new Cooper tires (spare is factory original.) New battery and rebuilt carb. All lights, wipers, etc work. Drives very well - I find myself pegging the speedometer at 85mph on the freeway constantly. Engine runs very strong and does not burn oil. Steering and suspension are very tight - no clunks, rattles, etc. Transmission shifts smoothly through the gears and clutch is good.

The bad: Carb is out of adjustment or, more likely, there's a vacuum leak. Car starts and runs fine but RPM's are slow to drop when shifting. Body has several dents on driver's side under the quarter window. There are a couple of minor rust spots - one under the passenger quarter window, two very small spots on the lower corners of the rear (hatch) window and some on the aprons between the bumpers and body (covered by the plastic filler panels.) None of the rust is through the metal. The dash has very small hairline cracks but is covered by velour dash mat. Rear seat upholstery is original and in decent shape. Front seats were reupholstered at some point in the past but need to be reupholstered again. Center console has some chalkyness but all other interior panels are in good shape. The rear defroster technically functions but most of the individual strips have been scratched and do not heat. Front brake rotors are badly warped. Brakes feel good other than the warping but I have not checked the condition of the pads.

I really don't want to sell it but I don't have time to drive it or work on it and don't have a dry place to park it. I would prefer to sell the car to someone who knows and cares about old Hondas. This car is extremely solid and deserves to be preserved.

Man, I need to come check that thing out before you sell it. I wish I could buy it, but I have 4 cars already as it is.
