It looks like the brand that I carry at my work, we have had decent luck with them.
Our return rate is decent and most of the defects are other issues that the customers are having with their cars.

I wonder. Mine is a TD10N distributor. I lucked into a new one (in a very dusty box) on eBay two years ago for $75. There's something about this one that looks different. Here's a pic of the one I rebuilt myself before finding the new one. Are they the same?

It's a new, non-OEM distributor, I think. According to the listing, it's better than OEM, blah, blah, blah. Maybe we are finally getting some aftermarket support.

Re: New TEC distributors on eBay

But it only lists these compatible Honda models. I wonder if it will work in place of a TD10N?

    TD01N TD06N TD07N

It looks like it might work...

I asked the question of the seller. If this will work it is one hell of a good deal.

I have one here at work with the TD01N number on it and it is identical to the one on my 89, if that helps

Re: New TEC distributors on eBay

This was the response to the question I asked the eBay seller about compatibility with TD10N. I wonder what the difference in the numbers is?

    "Hi,

    I do not show a TD10N unit.

    Best Regards,
    Todd"

Re: New TEC distributors on eBay

Oddly enough, even though the stamping on my original distributor is TD10N, and the new one I purchased on eBay a couple of years ago (brand new OEM) was TD10N, Rock Auto shows a TD07N as a replacement for an 89 LXi. As long as the eBay seller would refund your money if the thing didn't work I think it's worth a try. None of the rebuilt ones you buy are as good as the ones you do yourself and even that is a pale shadow of a new one.

I am a dyslexic dumbass! My distributor is a TD01N, not a TD10N. Not sure how I have managed to be this wrong for this long. My apologies. If I needed a distributor I would try one of these in a heartbeat!

Where are you seeing that it's a Cardone? I would steer clear of those too.

Re: New TEC distributors on eBay

Received one of these today. It is made by Richporter Technology. The box it is packaged in says "100% new construction, no used or remanufactured parts."

The distributor itself has an engraving on it of "RPT E40018".
There is also a sticker on it that has "TD01N" and underneath "A-100812036 0018-0004"

I can not find anything as to indicate when it was made. I must say that it does appear to be genuinely new. I am going to install it Saturday when I have time. I will let you guys know how it goes.

Re: New TEC distributors on eBay

This new distributor works great. Only had a couple of problems getting it to work. First, I had to buy longer vacuum hoses because the vacuum advance is pointed in a different direction than the stock one. Second, took me half a day to figure out the lever for the vacuum advance wasn't hooked on to the stator. The stock one looks to be locked on to the pin. This new one isn't. Am I missing something?

After I hooked it on, it runs incredibly well. I can't even remember the last time the engine has ran this well.
