Question took measure of the cylinders , this is what I got

instead of 82.50 they are 82.75
I was suggested to make them 83.00 , is it ok ? can I find a suitable piston kit with rings for this size?

if not , what do you recoomend?

    thanks,
    Adrian.

You need to ask this question of a competent machine shop. Have them bore out the cylinders, prep the block, test it and get a ring kit to fit the bore. It's all in a day's work for a good machine shop.

You'll need to change the pistons too.

I know Honda sells an oversize kit.

my car is the only 86(-89) Accord in Israel , it wasn't imported reguraliry here.
the machine shop can't find pistons and rings for my car.

I want to order this kit, but will it match? they say they have rings up to +40 , it means 82.90 ?

Re: took measure of the cylinders , this is what I got

can you tell me if one of these is good?

they say the pistons are 82.75 , right?

    and they have

    +20

    +30

    +40

I don't really get it , if they say the piston is 82.75 it means its already +0.25 , right?

    so if I buy +40 , I need to bore the cylinders to 83.15 ? because I bought 82.75+0.40 ..

    Your not understanding the measurements.

They typically sell oversize pistons & rings in thousandths of an inch., +20 =
    .020" +30= .030" & +40 = .040"

Your best bet is to have a machine shop measure them, cause that is way out of limits. If your measurement is accurate, you'll have to bore it out to 83 mm..

the pin bore for the A20 is 19mm and the B18 pin is 20mm...so he would need to get LS rods too

You are not understanding metric measurements.

.040" is roughly 1 mm. So .010" is about 1/4 mm, .020" is about 1/2 mm, and so on.

If the stock bore is 82.5mm, and his is 82.75mm, then simple math would explain he has about a .010" overbore.

If his bore is still acceptably within limits of a +.25mm overbore, then he shouldn't have to bore it at all, simply match the proper pistons to it.

If the pistons are also acceptable size, they can be reused.

They actually don't LOOK that bad in terms of scuffing wear. The only way to know is with the micrometer in hand measuring the diameter, and comparing that to the book value.

and if the diameter is acceptable , the scratches aren't bad to the new bored cylinders?

I was trying to explain the ebay link he had with pistons & how they sell them in sizes. I wasn't sure either if he was using metric or what in his measurements. .25 mm over isn't bad. Might be able to hone it out if the walls aren't tapered & it's perfectly round at several points.

I'm not much on re-using pistons when your that deep into it, but I guess it depends on the buget.

Gotcha. It seems the .010"/.25mm pistons weren't available anyways. I guess he's stuck boring it.

Re: took measure of the cylinders , this is what I got

    I'm really confused

this auction says "THIS AUCTION IS FOR STANDARD BORE PLUS .030""

but in the details they say :
    ACCORD DX
    LX
    1955CC
    4 CYL
    8.8:1
    82.75MM
    BS1
    12V
    1986
    OVER HEAD CAMSHAFT (OHC)

if it is standart bore , why is it 82.75?
will this kit be good for me?

Re: took measure of the cylinders , this is what I got

My Haynes manual says the standard pistons are 82.67 mm.... My Chilton book didn't give specs.

    82.67 + (.030") or .762 mm = 83.43 mm

    82.67 + (.020") or .51 mm = 83.18 mm

    82.67 + (.010") or .254 mm = 82.92 mm

It looks like he is using 82.75 as standard bore size. It also looks like that the smallest pistons/rings he has are .020" over. which is 83.18mm. (His pistons will actually be 83.26 mm at .020" or .51 mm over.)

I would e-mail him and ask what the total diameter is on his .020" pistons & rings. See if its close to 83.18 mm.. Looks like you might be boring that baby out to 83.26 mm. with his math.

You'll have to take it to a machine shop to have the wrist pins inserted. (I don't recommend doing it yourself)
