tail light removal question

Hey guys i want to take the tail lights out of the trunk lid and make a panel for it.But how do i keep the light on the dash from staying on because the lights are gone.

I just want to remove inner lights,still going to have license plate lights and back-up lights.I'm gonna use part of a 94 accord trunk lid for the panel.
