    AAhhh.....koni's.....now groundcontrols...please help a retard

Ok I got the ground controls in today. I have never seen a coilover before so I have to ask some questions. I suppose the adjuster threaded doey goes toward the bottom and not at the top towards the cap. But the little metal disc supplied with the koni's (the thing that holds the spring up) and the threaded piece don't sit right together. I found out that if I reverse this metal disc on the shock and put it on upside down the ground control adjuster sits more balanced and more evenly distributed. Does anybody have a clue about the problem I'm talking about? Oh yeah what are the rubber orings for?...thanks
In the end...it doesn't even matter.

I dont know about the ground controls, but since I just got finished installing my konis, I can answer those questions. The sleeve goes at the bottom, and the spring fits over top of that. the little things that thread up and down is what the spring sits on. When you thread it up, the car raises, when you thread it down the car lowers. You will see when you take your car apart to install the struts that the silver cap is supposed to look like its up side down (the curves in it point downward). You then slide the silver circular thing down over top of that, and it holds the perch in place. It takes some pushing side to side but it will go on there. On top of the silver thing the ground control perch goes, with the nut like things attached to it. Over top of that the spring sits on top. Before you set the spring in you will see little white things that came with your konis..that slides down over top and sits on top of the strut and the rod comes through it. It is to my knowledge so when your driving, the strut wont push itself all the way down and readjust itself. After you place the spring then put the bump stop in. It really only fits one way. Once again the instructions are misleading with this. It says it should go one way, but it really only fits the totally opposite way. After the bump stop take the cap that you pulled from your car (it has the bolts attached to it to actually mount it) place it over the strut, letting the rod come through the center. After the you get the cap on take the washer (I assume you have one, I may have gotten mine with my tokicos) and place that upside down on top of the strut tower. After the large washer is applied place the nut supplied with the konis and start screwing it on. Take an allen wrench and put it in the top of the strut holding it while you turn the nut down tight. I made mine pretty tight, but they do have torque specs for them if your that picky.

OK, I think I covered all of the bases there..hopefully I didnt miss anything but now you have the general idea. Im still greasy as hell from my experience tonight, but damn the konis are bad ass. I went on dirt roads with ruts just to test them tonight..what a HELL of a difference. I also replaced my swaybar bushings, this really tightened the car up a lot. So its much more silent and seems to ride a whole lot better..now for an alignment.

End of my 2 page paper.
