Talking Hatchback lift supports - How do I change?

I have a 1988 Accord 3dr LXi hatchie. The hatch will not stay up on its own...falls on my damned head! This weekend I ordered 2 new lift supports from Pep Boys. I checked my service manual to see how I can change them myself and there it nothing in there about that task.

Are they hard to do, and do I need any special tools? Any help is appreciated!

I just replaced the ones that hold up the hood on my daughter's 99 Infiniti I30. The new struts will come with instructions. It was pretty easy.

Thanx, peeps...I'll try it when the weather dries up a little and it's not to darned COLD, so I can actually feel my hands and fingers! Gosh, I hope I don't break a nail on this task!

you will notice that on the body side of the new supports is different. The aftermarket ones do not have the ball joint setup that comes stock.
