Engine bay shave and tuck part II

Oh hey look its my 43252345th thread of what I did to my car Anyway I've decided to slowly shave the unused holes and crap in the engine bay. I've done the wire tuck last year or so, heres the other thread: https://www.3geez.com/forum/showthread.php?t=70744

So the plan is to fill any unused holes in the bay, tuck any tuck-able craps and repaint. I'm thinking of doing it in a different color from the body for the mad tyte USDM factor or I could leave it in stock color. I suck at deciding soo...

Anyway. A thread from me without PICS is like driving a Honda without rice.

    Here are some PICS!

Fiberglass over some holes on the firewall since I can't weld

    Ohai bondo

Tucking my coil in the cowl area (Y) I'll make sure the coil won't be soaked in the water when it rains haha

Last layer of bondo (hopefully) and that is all for today

I wanted to move my battery to the trunk but too bad I'm short on cash right now And oh tucking my prop valve as well. Wait nooo I can't I don't have the tools -.- I might ask around if theres anybody that could do it for me instead.

Looking good as always. Any ideas on what color youd want to go with? I think its gonna be tough to pull off a different color other than what the rest of the car is painted.

    Purple!

Actually, I think you should leave it man. I still think a different color engine bay looks like you repainted your car and left the engine bay the old color...

Paint the bay matte black. That way when something blows oil everywhere, no one will know!!!

Noes thats even worse than people thinking that I'm lazy to repaint the bay when I repainted the car.

What would be so US Market about a miss-matched engine bay? (USdomesticMarket for a car domestic to Japan?)

Moving the Brake prop. valve & plumbing would certainly be a pain...Certainly would look cleaner but aren't the pipes madly shaped for a reason?

    Custom alloy firewall heatshield?

    hides my charcoal canister too

Just move the battery downwards & add a cover?

Requires a shallower/ slightly relocated overflow reservoir though.

Oh yes! I've been looking for those pics forever haha! So the battery tray is pretty much being held up by that one bolt on the bulkhead (or whatever that is called) and resting on the crossmember?

I'm stealing your idea for the battery relocation As for mismatching color, I don't know, I guess I just want to have something different from everyone else here.

    Anyway updates for today!

And no, they are not just bondoed over. They're fiberglassed over and then few very thin layer of bondo over them to smooten them up.

Re: Engine bay shave and tuck part II

    Quick progress as usual!
You have some different washer jets/nozzles to use?

You'd remember where to find those pictures:
    http://www.cardomain.com/ride/205197...-accord/page-3

Yes the new Battery mounting just bolts into an existing bolt-hole.

Though it also has a flange on the underside with a notch to locate around the cross-member weldflange. So no movement up, down or otherwise (also has hole for battery retaining rod). & cut/grind off the original factory rust-trap.
Father also bent some 3mm plastic for me, for the washer reservoir to slide on to, with feet trapped under the battery.
Hope your different '81 radiator mountings won't get in the way.

Sorry I don't have a template/pattern for the heat shield which might be a little harder to make up with the engine in place. Mine only covers that side of the firewall so I didn't have to cut/shape it around the middle firewall reinforcement, brake servo, clutch etc.
Bolts up where the std. heat shield did with longer bolts & spacers behind.

Haha I saw that car before (Y) But hey it would be awesome if you could get more pics of the battery tray! I tried putting mine down there but I have some super fat battery compared to yours I'm thinking of getting some plastic tray from newer cars and mount it on the stock location but closer to the fender instead of the stock setup. I don't know yet.

    Anyway todays update!

    Bye stupid battery tray!

Almost there. Before I started to get lazy/tired. I don't wanna rush anything so I've decided to stop. I still gotta clean up the frame rail and take the harness out.

Wooow my A/C compressor looks HUGE >< Stupid thing, wish I could delete that crap

This is really going to clean thing's up! Instead of your eye being drawn away by all these dark holes you can focus on that killer power plant you've got haha.

I am very jealous, I'd like to be doing this at some point too. Also, keep it the same colour man, it will be super clean.

You can relocate that AC Compressor. You should look for the bracketry and shit off of an 82-83 Accord. Since they had the same engine, but the AC was down in front of the engine I'm pretty sure. It's been a while since I've looked at one though.
