    Sprints on Yesterday

MY friend and i lowered my car yesterday on sprints.....we were going along beautifully until we got to the last spring on the front left. Got the strut out and everything, and went to break the top nut and unscrrew it.....well, we broke it, but when it turned while trying to unmscrew it, the whole fucking bolt and top half of the strut would turn too, so every revolution would equal nothing. So we spend a good 4 hours trying everything, even a whole can of PB blaster. Well the allum wrech bit broke off in the tiny screw, so we were fucked with that, and the end threads of the bolt were stripped too so we were fukked with that as well. So we call pep boys and ask them if they have a new front left strut for my car. They said yes so we went there and it just so happens that pep boy's idea of a strut is just the shock portion, not including the top cap or the bottom fork, so we were mad about that, and they also could work on my strut to see if they could get the nut off until today, so we left. Called autozone and they said they had air tools, impact gun i reckon, that could take it off, and to come down and pay them and they'd do it, so we do, and the dude says "oh, we said that we had air tools for sale that you can buy and work on it urself"......sooo not what he said, but i let him know that he was a dick about that:pissed: however we met a dude there that said that the truck stop up north was open 24/7 (this was at 9pm last night when nothing was open) and to take it to their mechanics becuz they had air tools and they'd work on it......well we did, and the dude worked on it for us and got the nut off and put the spring on the strut and somehow got the nut back on good......so we installed the last spring at about 9:30 last night and were finally done, and my car looks beast. Good significant change in the handling aspect of things too, so i'm happy.....but man were things a bitch for a while.

Sounds like fun, but I hate to tell you everyones idea of a strut is just the strut portion. No one that I know of sells struts with the top cap. Why would they need to if you can use your old one just fine 95% of the time. And the thing about autozone is just your stupidity....you should had known they SELL parts and dont have an open shop to work on things..I think you looked more like an ass then anything. If they dont have a shop then are they going to be able to take an air compressor from the display, crank it up and put an air wrench to it just for you? I dont think so!

Glad you got it working, have fun bouncing all over creation on stock struts.
