    Clock Repair questions...

    hey all,

have an '89 Accord with 77k miles on her...

cherry interior (super excellent clean), no cracks in the dash, nothing...

only thing, the dashboard clock does not keep time...

everytime I shut off and restart the car the clock reverts to 1pm...

    any suggestions/quick fixes???

    thanx and peace all,

    mcs from socal (hell-la)

Mine did that when I first installed my conversion headlights. They came with 80/100W bulbs. As soon as I switched them back to 55/60W the clock was fine. I do have a spare clock, in excellent condition, that you can have for $20, shipped, if you need it.

Does the car show any other electrical problems? Make sure both battery cables are good and tight on the terminals.

It's highly likely the clock needs repair internally. The solder on the main board crack and need to be redone just like the main relay. This is something you can do yourself is you have a soldering iron.

The resistor/capacitor (forgot which one) also die. It's easiest to just buy a new clock from the wrecker though.

Does the radio, by any chance, also lose its presets?

    Re: Clock Repair questions...

^^I looked back at my post and decided $15 would cover my original cost plus shipping. I did not end up needing the new clock.

About the wheels, thanks! In this photo they are el-cheapos from NTB. They did not last as long as the OEM wheels. They got out of true within five years or so. I now have some similar looking el-cheapos from Discount Tire. I honestly can't remember which tires I had when I took this pic, but I currently run BF Goodrich Pro Series Touring, 195/60 14 (H). The car is pretty much stock. It's a daily driver with 335,000 miles on the clock, but it looks much "younger" than that.

My clock the dimmerpart seems to have gone hay wire. Its to dim to see in daylight but will "comeback" to the bright setting randomly. Anyone have any ideas?

    Re: Clock Repair questions...

Check out my suggestion above. That's usually what happens on the older clocks with the problems I listed.
