    Carb tuning help! pics inside

So hello every one just bought this 85 accord 3g.. I think. Always loved these cars for some reason. Just kinda fun to drive. Anywho. It smokes when you start it. Then its fine after that. So I replaced the valve seals and it helped a TON but its still doing it so IDK. I might have not got one or tow of the seals on good enough or somthing. But on to the main question.

I "de vacuumed" the car according to the How to. For some reason I cant see the first page of a thread sometimes so I might have missed something. But The darn thing won't start. I finally got it to start and run with pouring a bit of gas in the carb and it will fire right up. After that it will rev and run great. BUT low idle I guess it wont get fuel. If I wire the choke plate shut it will fire right up no problem. Open the choke plate no start...

I have messed with the air screw on the bottom back of the carb and screwed it all the way in and all the way out and that really doesnt have much change in how it runs. I also have the float level where is should be right in the middle of the window. I did also have to play with the idle knob to get it to run. but it wont idle under 1k before it dies.

Here are some pics and tell me how it looks for vac lines and plugs and stuff. I did jb weld one of the small holes where I think its the choke mechanism goes or one of the other idle modding actuators.

Also it ran and started just fine before i de vaced it. But it would idle really high and I couldn't get it lower than 1500 revs. Even turning the idle knob all the way out and taking off the throttle cable. I did a blow test and the pcv valve seems ok. blows one way but not the other. The crimp caps are temp till I know what works and I can buy some real vac caps.

I have since made a plate to get rid of the float vent contraption. I also cleaned out the carb.

But still. It will start with the choke just fine but you have to crank and crank to get it to fire back up again. I dont have a timing light yet. But will soon. Do you really flash the light at the flywheel like the thread on here says or do you flash it at the crank pulley like every other car? What way is it to advance and retard the timing. Is advance clock wise on the dizzy?

I see in the smaller picture you left one intake maniful port not plugged off. Exactly in the center bottom part of the pic.

Everything else in the de-vacuum looks correct.

i would go to your local auto store and start by getting rubber vaccum caps, they are like 5 bucks max and come with a bunch of sizes.

    thanks mkymonkey

If its one of the two intake ports on each side it has a cap hammered in it also.

The timing marks are on the flywheel for these cars, so yes, you shine the light through the hole where the transmission meets the block.
