hi there!!! gotta tranny question

i have an 89 lxi 5sp with 185k-ish miles. got it for free after, well, i was "away" for awhile. ANYWAYS-i lost 5th gear. i read all the posts i could find on tranny swaps/mods and came up with 2 things-would an UNMODDED 'teg tranny fit with just a bellhousing swap? . since the 'teg gears fit the accord case n vice versa and the 'teg case with hybrid parts fits somehow, next was that axles weren't really discussed-if somehow i can get a teg trans to fit w/o mods (or whatever) will lxi axles fit the 1st gen teg trans?.
I got other questions and i'll post em here in a bit but that's just the basics for now...

Being that there is no separate bellhousing, you're going to have to take both transmissions apart to do the swap. The differential sits in the same spot.

If your only issue is a lost 5th gear, then it's not hard to swap out. You don't even have to pull the transmission.

so that means that using the integra internals in the accord 'case, axles wont need 2 swap over? it makes sence. i was just curious cuz wen i did my 1st honda motor swap, i went from a 90 1.5 civic STD 4sp to a '94 1.6 v-tec 5sp n had to have "custom" axles made because my STD hubs didnt go with the axles that came with the 1.6. thanks 4 da reply, guy.

I do want to let you know that you're going to lose fuel economy and end up cruising at a high RPM on the freeway if you don't find another Accord 5th gear. The Integra 5th gear is around the Accord 4th gear if I'm remembering things correctly.

really close. the accord gear ratio and 4th gear is like 60mph at 3K and the integra final drive and 5th gear is around 65mph at 3k but if you would mix the accord final with the integra 5 you would only drop around 500rpm
