    Oem honda oil filter 15400-634-505

    Hey guys, first off let me say i was not sure where to put this so i just posted a new thread. I work at a local Honda dealership here in Statesville NC named Everhart Honda. While cleaning out the storage shed i found some oem honda oil filters part # 15400-634-505. Now, my catalogue says they fit old 70's model civics but I read online that they also fit 76-78 accords. I was just trying to find out if this was true and if anyone is interested in these filters. I wanted to come here first because I am a 2g prelude guy and get all the best info from 3geez. So just let me know. If this is in the wrong section to post this i apologize as I dont often venture into the 1g section. Thanks

    Honda Accord 1978 oil filter, part number:

    OEM parts catalogue reads:

    15400-634-013 Filter, oil (Tokio Roki)

    15400-634-004 Filter, oil

    NOTE: Unespecified brand item Nº 2.

    As you can see the final numbers of the P/N´s means some differences as explaind below:

    Example:-----> 71830-671-61 1 ZA

    71830:------> Function and part #

    671 :------> Model code (Eg Accord Coupe, but you can see that number in sedan parts also when the part is the same)

    61 :-----> Modification designation (When the part have been revised or improved this number changes)

    1 :-----> Factory (or sub-contratist) designation

    ZA :-----> Color code (Interior trim parts etc)

    Maybe the part is the same but would be interesting to compare with the ones designated to the Accord just to make sure.

    Good luck!

    Yeah my honda parts catalogue says that it is for the 70's civics. I only read that it fit 76-78 accord through a google search that lead me to hondatech. I guess i should know better than to trust anything from that site.

    I think you can broadly separate the early Civic into the non-CVCC 1200/1300, & the 1500 (CVCC & non-CVCC). The '76-78 Accord 1600 engines having been developed from the bigger 1500 (CVCC & non-CVCC).
    The smaller Civic engine are significantly different.
