    comp test

I recently did a compresion test on my 300,000 mile 89 a20 FI motor. The results left me confused lol. Each cylinder read between 180-185 numerous times during a dry test w/ the engine warm. Before i tested i searched alot on here for stock comp numbers and found around 170 was stock and 135 was the service limit unless there was a big difference between cylinders.

Are the stock comp numbers i found on here incorrect?

Would 20ish years of carbon build-up in the combustion chambers be enough to raise the comp ratio 10+ psi?

The spec for a new engine is 171-178 depending on whether it's FI or carbed. I suspect you have a bad gauge or did the test wrong.
