Talking Swapping Tail lights from CA to EX?

Is this possible without gettin another bootlid? the inside tail lights on the actual boot lid are smaller, honda wreckors told me i need another boot lid but I look on the inside and it looks like they would fit but the black plate behind the licence plate needs to be longer?

    any idea's

As Long as your Swapping 87-88 Tails to a 87-88 You wont have issues

    1987-88 JDM Accord Sedan:

    1985-1986 JDM Accord Sedan:

But they are correct, if you want to use the Early 85-86 Lights you will need to swap the bootlid

if you want it done properly like factory, then yeah you'll need a prefacelift bootlid. in that photo there ^ I used a 87-89 boot lid. i cut the facelift lights enough so i could fit the prefacelift ones, then filled & painted that part black

I realised right away that it was a facelift boot lid and wondered if I had gone mad... then I read the replies hehe.

Brilliant indeed. I might actually do this!

Re: Swapping Tail lights from CA to EX?

oh yeah i forgot to mention you might have to drill a couple holes or so, i also hori'd up some light holders to work. cause the prefacelift ones don't have brake lights in them, whereas the facelift ones do. i only added the extra lights to stop the brake light error in the gauges. btw your car's really clean for a white accord!

oh and you might want to make up a gaskety thing to stop water getting in there

All good we figure it out half way there hahaha Although the useless wreckers gave me 2 slightly different lights ones bit darker then other so gonna have to go back for swap. Also getting a tidier back bumper from pickapart.

Re: Swapping Tail lights from CA to EX?

Cool just sprayed it for now till i get some, be glad to get straight other bumper on i also removed the CA badge and sprayed bottom of boot lid, paint was flaken as its been badly repaired in past id say. Brought a duck lip spoiler from PP for $20 off a 1985 Prelude its too big! LOL! waste of a twenty, completely wrong shape would suit a 1983 Accord with bigger bootlid.

Re: Swapping Tail lights from CA to EX?

Yeah its sucks i dont wanna be doing a swap twice LOL! honda wreckers want $600ex akld and they cant even tell me the K's? WTF! All the cars at PP are A18A or A20s and the autos are all over 2 - 300,000ks!

When i brought the car it was low on ATF, so we flushed it twice with Honda ATF then added some "Auto Repair Syrup hahaha and its 80% better.
