    Number plate/ registration plate mounting

Hey guys. Just recently I received my new sexy black and white slim line number plates (which il take some pictures of and post. My issue is that when I mount them on the back of three car on the allocated spot they look like they sit too high and show some of the red of the car underneath the plate, where it would normally be covered by a regular sized plate. The front is ok-ish because I just screwed straight into the bumper and the plate covered up the old holes...
What have other people done for slim line plate mounting? (in hindsight I should have just gotten the regular sized plate for the back... Aint it a bitch!)
    Thanks!

Well, no. They're all the same size here in North America. Even specialty plates.

damn... there was an option for me to get a regularly sized rear plate just for the back, but i thought it wouldn't be a problem...
Has anyone else come up with a custom way of mounting their plates?
    Thanks for the reply!

Yeah, that doesn't look so great, does it? Is it possible to put a black filler plate behind the new plate?

All the plates I saw on a recent trip to Australia (NSW & QLD) were what appeared to my North American eyes to be slim line. Not as slim as your Victoria plates though. Blacken the red background, lower and centralize the plate and you're good to go.

??? really, oh yeah! you guys have really square plates yeah???
the ones you were seeing were just the standard plates. Mine are the actual slimline ones. Remember, Australia has a much smaller population, hence less cars, hence less numbers, hence a smaller space needed.
We use the format AAA111 (in Victoria), and we're only just getting around to ZZZ999... then i think we'll switch to 111AAA like in NSW.

How was your trip over here? where did you go?

The trip was incredible. English words are inadequate to describe my Australian experience. Sydney 4 days, Cairns 4 days, Brisbane 10 days, Coolangatta 1 week.

We in British Columbia been through the AAA 111 and have been in the 111 AAA for many a year. A couple of Canadian provinces are in to seven digits AAAA 111. Some American states have more digits still. I've seen some Washington and California plates that are full of digits edge to edge, too many to count.

Here's an idea. Most auto parts stores around here seem to carry "fake" license plates. What I mean is that are the size and shape of a license plate, but they have things like the brand logo, goofy sayings, etc. Get one of those, paint it flat black, and mount it behind the slim plate. Or, just get a piece of plain sheet metal, paint it black, and use adhesive to mount it to the plastic frame underneath the slim plate.

Ok, great! Thanks for that guys!
I think i will just get a sheet of metal, spray it black and then mount my plate to it... hopefully it should look good...
