The brake pedal feels lower than it used to be. I have to press down more distance than it used to be. The force required is about the same as before. No brake pad squeeling. Does that mean master cylinder is going bad?

adjust the rear brakes, most likely they are drum unless the car is an se-i or was swapped to disc. the easiest way to do it is take off the tire and drum, adjust the "star" / "spur" for the drum brakes enough that you can still get the drum on , but it should have a tiny bit of drag on it.
