    1gee with square lamps

Just curious, I wonder if any of you guys have ever seen 1st gen accord saloon with square lamps? Or this edition only available in Indonesia, since I tried to make google search and found nothing outside my country.
This is the last series of 1st gee, which issued only one year, 1981.

Yeah, I'm not sure what the deal is with them. I think they are a JDM only feature, maybe your cars are JDM models. I see them in this catalog that I purchased and scanned:

I don't think there is much information on them, simply because it may be a JDM only thing. Hazwan's car is an 81 and has round headlights... so I'm not really sure why they did this. Maybe a transition to 1982?

    Re: 1gee with square lamps

yeah,...at that era, many car turned its light from 4 round lights to 4 squares. exactly one of them is toyota corona, Datsun 180 B, toyota crown...

but they are available everywhere, since this accord with square lamp was only here...

I did, but he'd rather keep it garaged. that picture was taken at 2009, while he took it out to carwash station, and then put it back to sleep in the garage. this awesome 98% original had very low mileage as seen on the interior pict.

Yeah, I think they ALL came with square lights, but the U.S. (and Canada?) models got round headlights due to some strange safety law. I don't know what the headlight shape had to do with safety, but that's just what I've heard...

    Just my 2 cents worth!

if that true, it is a really strange safety law, while none of car has round headlights

Pretty sure it was really only for the Japanese market, though a few smaller markets might have got them, Some Asian markets also more likely to get 2nd hand imports of Japanese cars.
USA demanded Sealed-beam headlights in a limited number of standardized sizes round & square from the '40's until the mid/late '80s though, so even missed out on the H4-replaceable globe lamps most markets started getting in '79 or '80.

I favor the round lights the car was designed with, but square do give a different look.
