    Smile My 89 lx-i Coupe.

yeah. thought i should post some pictures of it, other than just the one i posted in the intro thread.

    here it is.

recently fixed her up a little, from an oil problem turning out to be just the pcv valve.. lol, o2 sensors, and coolant sensor..
now its running great and im happy.

plans for it are going to be a small lower, new paint, and eventually boost the a20.

what do yall think? ( its a little dirty right now, i drive it about 100 miles a day.. yea i know the wires under the dash are sagging, ill pick them up. also the wires under the intake feed are under it, i need to put them back on top. )

Not bad looking. I find it kinda funny that you and Doward have about the same car, and you're really not far from each other. I really like the SEi wheels, always have.

    Re: My 89 lx-i Coupe.

well i went to the junkyard today. to look for cupholder addon, armrest and a front lip for under the bumper. well i only managed to find an armrest.
it was pretty cheap. i got it for only $5.
the fabric is in bad condition. and it doesnt match my interior.
so, i left the bottom the grey.. doesnt match still but its not to bad.
and recovered the top with a super ghetto upholstery job.
    after cleaning it that is.
by the way.. i used an old t-shirt for the fabric.. lol.

edit... im going to add that, i paid just 500 for this car. 4 years ago.. but its been sitting lol.

    here it is before:

    here it is after:

here it is in the car.

Someone is selling a red factory armrest on here. Don't pay more than $20 for one, though. People try to sell them for $50+ when they're readily available for ten bucks...

LOL, nice score. Like your SEi wheels vs my damn 14" steelies + broken hubcaps

I'll get new wheels and tires eventually, though. We've got the same color combo - red interior + pewter (champagne?) exterior!

yeah i seen your thread also. looking good.
and i think ill keep the wheels on it for a while, im lowering it at the end of the week when my stuff comes in from ups.
those wheels should look nice still when its lowered.
going to just lower it with the stock struts for now.. yeah its prolly gonn bounce pretty bad but ill buy better struts soon enough. i cant buy it all at once.

Your cars are Seattle Silver Metallic (ssmca6<3), similar to 1986-1988's Misty Beige Metallic (the color of my coupe). The Champagne was the piss-gold DX/LX color.

    Re: My 89 lx-i Coupe.

gotta pull off my air idle valve in the morning.. light popped on and it started running like crap on the way home from a friends tonight..
hopefully i can fix it. im not to thrilled about buying a new one for 150..

as far as the colors are, im not sure what color i wanna get it repainted..
also are 3g coupes sorta hard to find? cause.. there is now 3, 4 door 3g's in the junkyard.. not one coupe. and i would love to find either grey, black or beige interior.. but being all i can find is 4 doors i dont see it happening lol.

Both hatches and coupes are much harder to find than sedans.

    Re: My 89 lx-i Coupe.

cant believe i forgot the main thing i needed from the junkyard when i went..
need a new oil pan.. te people who had it before me stripped the bolt hole out, and have a bolt ran from the inside out in the pan.. so i can not change my oil unless i drop the pan.. lol

    Re: My 89 lx-i Coupe.

think im gonna go with pearl white when i paint it.

and also my springs came in today. ive got the front lowered already, working on the back now. and ill post some pics when im done.

my front struts are totally blown, not sure about the back but willing to bet they are also.
ill buy new struts soon enough. just gotta be careful driving it.
its not totally bottomed out, the springs still have some absorbing power i took it for a ride with just the front done, and it still rides good.

    Re: My 89 lx-i Coupe.

Here is the pics of now lowered accord.
drop zone 2.25 drop, i went ahead and went with them because the other ones i was looking at were only 1.6 inch drop.

but. one more thing, it doesnt even bounce. even with shot struts it rides really good.
no bounce, no bottom out. the springs are surprisingly stiff.

the front springs settled a little since ive took the pics. and its not really higher in the front as the pics appear.

also im going to repaint my trim and flaps and put the flaps back on soon.

Thanks for the pics! I'm definitely going with the H&Rs - that 2.25" drop is too low for Laura

SE-i's had factory bronze tint. I believe his front windshield might be from an SE-i coupe.

    Re: My 89 lx-i Coupe.

i wonder.. were cupholders and armrests optionable in sei's?
if they were.. could be a small chance that its an sei with a replaced back tail light assembly.
edit. well. come to think about it, i dont think it could be. sei came with rear disk brakes always right?
mine are rear drum so i guess it would be out of the question.

    Re: My 89 lx-i Coupe.

Since you asked: All SE-i's had cup holders and center consoles with armrests standard. You could get an optional slave equalizer or compact disc player. LX-i's had all of these, strictly as options. You'll find some LX's with factory armrests, maybe some rare DX's. Do not settle for that dealer armrest. You can find a red armrest in any body style of LX or LX-i, if the exterior color is white, red, beige, or silver. Click here for factory color combinations. Some are missing pictures, some are missing altogether, and some are slightly incorrect.

    Re: My 89 lx-i Coupe.

got it back on.. its not 100% finished... im gonna sand off the paint on the lettering and ribs.. but not today.. it needs time to cure..

sorry not the best pictures. but they work..
and no thats not paint on the clutch cable, that is the sunlight.
also if anyone wants to know.. yes i did buy a new valve cover gasket.. i think the old one was leaking anyways..
if it wasnt then i have a small mystery oil leak somewhere.. either distributor gasket or something.. the oil oozes out infront of the distributor on the edge of the head.

well. i bought masking tape, doesnt have to be the expensive kind. but you can if you want. i bought 2 rolls of like $1.89 a roll 1 inch wide tape, 2 cans of rustoleum flat black protective enamel, i think about $6 each and a few newspapers.
washed the trim, dont sand it. it will make it all grainy unless you use a real fine sandpaper. even then it might idk, i just didnt sand it and it looks great.
next i started masking it all off, i tried to get under the edges of the trim so i didnt get any spray on the actual car.( you could always remove the trim from the doors and fenders to eliminate having to mask them off, i didnt do this i didnt feel like removing door panels. )you cant do that on the bumpers cause its built on so i just got it in a straight line as good as i could.
then added a second strip of tape a little higher overlapping a small portion of the existing, just for better coverage. then taped the newspaper on top and bottom taping the seems of the papers together so no spray gets between the papers also.. then just started adding coats of paint. remember to do lighter coats so you dont get runs in it. a few coats is best.
let it dry then remove all the masking. then its good to go
