    Prelude brakes

I know you can use SE-i rear brakes to convert to disk from drums but are you able to use prelude to just bolt on?

If you mean the Prelude rear discs, then no. You need the SE-i knuckles as well as the calipers and rotors. The 3g Accord front rotors are actually the same as the 3g Prelude front rotors.

2g prelude rear discs actually bolt to 2g accords. Thought you might like to know.

That's interesting, because it means that my 2/3g Integra hub adapters should work on the 2g Accords as well. I wonder if there's a way to bolt up the calipers then?

What are these hub adapters? Is that so you can run a rotor-over-hub type setup?

Exactly. There's a member on PP that races an '86 'lude, and he was having problems with breaking the rear hub/rotor. We decided that the only available aftermarket rotors were not up to the task of racing, so I came up with an adapter sleeve to allow bolting an Integra hub and rotor onto the Prelude spindles. The Integra rotors are the same diameter and nearly the same offset as the 'lude rotors, so the only modification required for the brakes is to add some washers between the caliper bracket and mounting plate. I don't know how many races he's done since the conversion but he hasn't broken anymore hubs.

And as an added benefit, the rotors can be replaced without having to mess with the hub.

Depends on what lengths you are willing to go to. 2/3g Integra rotors will fit the rear hubs directly. Mostly all you need is somewhere to bolt the calipers to. I'm not that familiar with the Accord rear knuckles but I just made some adapter plates to fit other calipers on my 2g Prelude, so I imagine it would be possible to do something similar with the 3g Accord. If somebody wants to send me a junk rear knuckle I would be happy to look into it.

The caliper bracket isn't sandwiched with the backing plate mounting like the prelude was?

I really don't know. Anyone have a picture of the 3g rear brakes with the rotor and hub removed? I should just search.

    Re: Prelude brakes

the hub must be removed to remove the dust shield/ backing plate on the rear disc models. it is attached with 3 or 4 phillips head screws. The caliper bracket IIRC is not sandwiched with the backing plate
