    another junkyard run

I made another run to Cox pick and pull today, I'm still disappointed that the hatch is an 88 dx, but beggars can't be choosers, I finally found the quarter window and hatch trim in decent condition, one corner has a small chip, but I found the broken piece of plastic, so epoxy time, I'm going to be covering those pieces with thin tan leather anyway, I pulled two of the speaker covers for the rear, both are in good condition with the exception of the carpet, both hatch cover sliders work too. I'll let those go for a reasonable amount, I figured someone needs some. I think they were amazed at how fast I was able to dismantle the interior of this car to get the trims out. I guess when you know every fastener lol. I'm getting parts a bit at a time as I can afford them. It was something like 89 degrees with 79 percent humidity, so I was in one of those just short of heat stroke states, or I would have taken more pictures. I FINALLY found the source of the dead animal smell, and dispatched it with a shovel, I also found a large mouse nest under the rear seat, amazingly they didn't eat the seat foam, but trucked in foam from another car. about a half hour before they closed we got another huge thunderstorm, lightning, downpour etc, but I just kept working through it. Junkyard junkie lol.

some pictures I took last time

Man, I wish I had junkyards like that near where I live...

What are those hatch cover sliders you mentioned? I couldn't quite tell what they were in those pictures you posted... I have a hatch, but I don't have those plastic sliders... Did they come in all 3rd Gen hatchbacks?

they all have them, the pins for the hatch cover drop into them, then you slide them to lock, they are built into the rear speaker covers, normally they are broken on most of the hatches so I grabbed these. I also have a rear licience plate trim, the one between the taillights, with the plate lights built into it, someone needed one, but I couldn't remember who

Oh, I see it now... I guess I do have those, just couldn't tell what it was from the angle of the picture. I know what you mean... One of the passenger side pins is broken on my hatch, it was like that when I got it. Its amazing that one still had both of them.

it's not the pin part as the cover was missing, but the part the pins fit into, neither hatch at this yard has the cover, the part on your hatch with the pin detaches with two phillips screws, it's screwed to the cover, if yours just has the round pin broken off of the base, i can repair it with an aluminum pin, those are getting very hard to find, not a good place for plastic!!

My hatch has a partially broken clip (one side of the clip is broken off, making the clip useless, lol) but the pin on that side of the folding cover piece is broken off as well.

Umm, I'm not sure. I'll take a picture of what's broken tomorrow morning when it's brighter out and then post it.

In my experience as well those are quite common areas to break.

    Re: another junkyard run

the big trim pieces are going in my car, the other guy in the thread is getting the clip and sliders i might be able to get more though, the pieces that cover the speakers are for sale minus the sliders at this time, the piece that goes between the tailights and holds the plate, it's for sale, I paid twenty bucks for it, it's for sale for the same plus shipping, I'm not looking to make a profit, just trying to help others get parts, the rest of the stuff you see in the pictures should still be there by this saturday, if anyone wants any of it, let me know, and i'll grab it

    Re: another junkyard run

can someone verify the 88-89 manual window regulator will fit the 86-87? i know the doors are slightly different, but this one has a good drivers door and possibly good passenger regulator, the door on the other hatch is creamed, along with the entire side of the car, so those parts are worthless,on the 88 it has one good taillight, I think passenger side, and the drivers side could be redone with a new plexi cover
