another noob here with an 87 LX.

just bought my first 3rd gen accord. it has some issues with idling and i believe it to be linked to the carburetor. any help would be appreciated.

it has been idling between 2000 and 3000 rpm, but now as soon as i start it it revs up to 5-6k rpm and stays there. it also diesels after shut off until i let off the clutch. any help on this would be appreciated.

Sounds like your choke is hanging up. Take the breather off and start the car and see if the choke is opening.

Had same problem with my 88 LX. Check the vacuum hose under the manifold on the drivers side. It is about 3/8" in diameter. My engine raced to 5 and 6k as well. When I changed the carb I found the hose had a wear hole in it.

the vacuum line has a about 90% of the outer hose worn through i was able to patch it until i can get a new line for it. now i believe my throttle cable is sticking. any pointers on how to lube up the cable. and any point of views for the weber carb swap?

The throttle cable has a plastic liner that the cable runs through. Eventually, the cable wears a hole in the liner and the cable starts to stick. You can try lubing it, but I suspect replacing the throttle cable is the only real solution.

Everyone who has done the Weber swap loves it. If you have to pass any kind of smog check, however, it's not for you.

i do not have to pass any smog checks, or emission checks in Ohio. and as far as the throttle cable goes where could i find one. i have checked all the part stores and no one can even order one fore me. My main problem right now is basically my car starts and runs, but idles at about 3k rpm. as well as diesels after i turn the car off.
