86 manual accord wont start. please help!!!

so, i have this 86 honda accord that wont start. about a year ago it had an issue dieing. put gas in it, it ran for 2-3 miles, then quit again. parked it, up until now, because i have a nephew that needs it. now the timing spot on, i have spark, and fuel is making it all the way through. any idea what else may be wrong??

Can you give a better description of what is happening? Dying at lights? While driving down the road? After it runs out of gas? While you are drifting at 9,000 rpms?

Car wont start. Has good spark, gas up to the carb, wont fire on ether, appears to be a timing issue. Timing belt looks brand new.

Original happenings that started this all: Driving on interstate, car died, 1/4 tank of gas. thought gas gauge was stuck so added 5 gallons, car started right up, drove 2-3 miles and it died. Pulled it home, never looked at it until the other day. It fired once immediately after first turn of the key but not again.

Almost sounds like a bad ICM. I don't really know how to diagnose those though. Had you had sporadic losses of power before the freeway incident?

It almost sounds like a fuel filter.

Shoot a little bit of starting fluid down the carb. If it tries to start you will know you have a fuel issue. If nothing happens you have an ignition or timing issue
Go from there.

If you are getting gas and spark, I would do a compression check on the cylinders to make sure compression is good. Also, check that the firing order is correct. The numbers are usually on the distributor cap and cyl #1 is closest to the driver's side on US cars.
