How do I remove the antenna?

Went by the Pick-A-Part yard today to look at the '89 he has. One if the things I need for my DX is an antenna as mine will not go all the way in being bent a bit. The '89 in the yard had a broken one but I thought I would try to remove it to see what it would take to remove mine. I removed the two screws and thought it would pull out but it is connected some where deep down inside. I am guessing the cable has to be disconnected but how do I gain access to it?

    Thanks

Best way to get to it, is to remove the fusebox. And even then it's not easy to get to.

Do some searching on this site. There are posts detailing how to get an old antenna out and a new one in. It's not easy.

I did the search using the Google tool and there are quite a few threads about power antennas. But as far as I can tell the antenna on my DX is manual. The automatic antennas seem to have the motor mounted under the left side of the dash behind the fuse box. Do I have to access the same area to disconnect the cable to my antenna to be able to remove it?

In the service manual is nothing about the non automatic antennas, but it looks like the only way.

For a DX, it's going to be a lot easier. The power antennas are nearly impossible. Here is the best write-up for the power antennas. For the DX, there is no motor to disengage and no plastic push rod to maneuver down the A-pillar. If you are able to find an antenna in good condition, just snip off the plastic push rod from the motor and then you have only the antenna wire to feed down the A-pillar. Be sure to attach a string to the old antenna wire before pulling it out. You will have no way to pull the new one through if you forget that important step.

It's a Honda, bend it back.
