    just outta curiosity

What's the difference between an A2Q5 accord 5sp & an A2K5 prelude 5sp transmission? I'm assuming just the gearing. They both will fit an A20a3, obviously. Need to know the difference by 10pm tonight. My A2Q5 transmissions 5th gear shredded to hell and back and the chunks helped murder the rest of what was left inside. Driving 45 MPH and the front tires locked up, even in neutral. Found an A2K5 86' prelude trans and it's fuckin mint. Just praying that this lude one will fit. It's my only option period, cause the A2Q5 is beyond toast.

The A2K5 will fit our car since it came off a a20 motor it will fit. And by fit i mean the bell houseing will mate up. Im not sure if the shift linkage is different someone who has more experience will have to answer that question. I believe that the gears are slightly shorter but I'm not positive

Good read! Why is it not in the how-to's or general section? That's a good chunk of good reading info! +1up guys! Looks like I couldn't have come out any better. I got an 86' Prelude Si trans!

It's in the FAQ section, not the How-To section for added confusion.

Duh, LOL. Didn't dawn on me. Guys, this thing pwns! Shifts so quieter and easier. It's like our A2Q5 4th gear but it's the same size of A2K5 5th. Nice.

You should expect to see your gas mileage decrease. The Preludes were a lot quicker, but that came at the cost of MPG.

I can take a cut in gas mileage for a small added dose in power. I've honestly literally been making 34.2mpg average since I started recording odometer mileage, fuel type, total gallons, etc. using fuel log android app in May of this year. We'll see what MPG I make now. And for all of you who record gas mileage, fuel log app for Droid pwns!
