New alternator and battery high rpm then dies

I took my 87 dx to the shop to get the alternator replaced. Beforehand I had also bought a new battery about a month before.

When I had the alternator replaced I noticed the battery light came on. When I go to start her she idles high to about 3k rpms then it dies. This happens in a span of less than 5 seconds.

Before I had the alternator replaced all it needed was a jump and it ran perfectly.

Any ideas to what those guys did to my car?

    EDIT:

Just put in a Weber carb and the "new" alternator I had was bad.

Try disconnecting your battery and then reconnect it. Never mind yours is not injected and sometimes the ecu needs to reset.
