Are both of these damn coolant loops REALLY necessary?

    Here's a pic:

Green is current coolant loop that runs from the water pump area, through the big valve thing (really should look up what the hell that thing is) through the throttle body, to the fast idle wax valve, then post thermostat.

Red is the coolant loop I'm looking at removing. It runs from under the intake manifold, up through that pipe you see under the heater valve cable, and then post thermostat, at the same junction the Green loop runs.

The ONLY reason I can see that red loop being there, is if the intake manifold runners have coolant jackets around them to warm them up.

If so, it's all the more reason for me to remove that loop, unless the coolant comes in elsewhere.

    What's the deal?

not really you can run a longer hose to get rid of it. They just have that to hold the hoses in place.

Do I want to run a longer hose, or just cap the damn thing off?

can't see the pic, but I can tell you you should leave all coolant lines connected unless in an emergency. Aluminum does not like temperature extremes

the only one i have ever taken off is the one that is going to the throttle body and just looped it around i does give you a crisper throttle response just because your not heating up the tb but if you live were it gets cold then you need to make sure you reconnect it. for some reason the cars dont like the cold air in the winter
