    front brake pads with abs

I've never changed pads on a car with abs. Our 2010 civic now is screeching (the wear indicators are singing) and I'm going to do the replacement tomorrow. I've done brakes on our '95 Civic and our '89 Accord many times, easy as pie. Looks like it will be just as easy on the '10. Anything special about abs when changing the pads? Only 23k on the car but my wife is the primary driver and loves to use the brakes. Rocketman

I think it's the same process as for non-ABS. If you're going to bleed the brakes, you might want to do some reading on that because there could be some special process or tool you need.

The only thing I have done differently on cars with ABS is that I open the bleeder valve when pushing the piston back in to clear the new pads. Something I read a number of years ago said that you don't want to force old fluid backwards through the ABS hardware. I never tried to verify that, but I figured it woldn't hurt to open the bleeder valve and catch the fluid.
