    Re: Aaron's ITR!

Well it lasted a month but after a little spirited driving the other day the knocking started getting louder and louder. i had 40kms till i was home so i was taking it easy hoping to get it home in one piece so my B16 head wouldnt get fucked by piston(s) smashing into it.
5km from home the engine wouldnt idle but i made it another 3km before i got on my home straight turned the engine off and coasted the remining 2kms in my gate down the drive and into the shed. Before i turned the motor of it was clatring and banging and squeeking like it was about to give out.

long story short the engines out and im picking up a b18C+b16 head this weekend and that will be enough for now. i have no money at the moment to rebuilt a b20b block.

    Pics of car before

time to pull the gearbox apart also and find out one and for all why i cant change from 5ht down to 4th without going up into 3rd first. (Always has done this)

Imported a 1998 spec rear swaybar from japan since you cannot find them locally. Put it on today and fuck it drives good! going from 13mm to 23mm makes a big difference in the corners, it feels so stable now.

    Re: Aaron's ITR!

failed wof on bumper mounting (has a crack and they are concerned it will fall off) Also exhuast hs a leak in the header pipes somwhere so ill need them welded up and failed on rear brake pads. at least i dont need to swap in a power steering rack now

also i forgot to add i found soon after i installed my B18C it was an autyomatic b16a head on the B18C block so thats why i couldnt hear vtec. i put the manual cams out of my b20vtec in now its loud as and pulls much better. the oil leaks have slowed down now its got good new oil in it and its reliable as. Only bad noises its making id from the fucked LMA's in the head.

    Re: Aaron's ITR!

bought a white bootlid and a replacement rear bumper as mine was fucked and i didnt wanna repair it. looks way better although looking back i should have just painted my bootlid cause it was minter. also bought a gear boot and console thing so my stereo can sit properly in its hole! and last of all i cut and polished the engine bay paintwork (that i could get to with a rag) and damn it came up nice.

oh yeah this beast gets 6.4l/100km open road driving to auckland and back!

Great work. You definitely know your way around an ITR engine bay. My son has a 93 EJ and is ready for a motor swap. I have another engine and trans for the swap but waiting for the auto trans to fully take a dump. Trying to get the vtec up and working properly was another learning experience. He really wants to do a 5sp swap but I already have a whole engine/trans for change out. Great work!

    Re: Aaron's ITR!

Ive been waiting for a set of front koni shocks to show up for ages now and i finally got my hands on some. They are adjustable at the top like my rears so i can adjust the dampening from top on all four shocks. I also picked up some rsr springs cheap from a mate and today i decided to installs them.

While i had no front koni shocks i was using the koni yellows out of my CA3 accord with EF springs. the car was low because the shocks are WAY shorter. Upper arm hit the body regularly

    Rusty but good:

Im pretty certain my old set of springs i got from a EF with GAB shocks are aftermarket also. i may sell them.

The car is higher at the front and the same height in the rear. im undecided if i will lower the front to the next circlip or raise the rear....

    Re: Aaron's ITR!

Well now i have all the gear to road tune this son of a gun me and a couple of mates went out for a drive one fine evening.one mate monitoring the A/F gauge and one on the laptop and my driving. 3 hours later we put together a tune. Couldnt believe the extra power i got, After tuning just the low cam with VTEC disabled the car felt as fast as it was beforehand on vtec.

Anyways a week later i was driving and the car all of a sudden started making a horrible metal on metal scraping sound. i was like oops that sounds like its gearbox related so i left the car at my mates workshop and yesterday i swapped the box with my spare. Tonight after driving it home and pulling the old box apart this is what i find:

So i may be investing in some new bearings me thinks. i also need a good 3rd and 4th syncro so if anyones got a Y21 EG6/9 b series box around thats got a good 3rd and 4th let me know

New Wheels Aquired!! More details when i pick them up. Heres a hint: the weigh like 9 pounds

Also tonight i fixed my oil light wiring issue and installed a AC delete pipe/Bungs. Weight reduction FTW, it means i can carry more tools with me
