    Don't swerve for deer.

So I was driving along on a two lane highway, prolly about 65 MPH. All of a sudden this deer pops out. I saw it out of the corner of my eye, and it registered in my head as a person, so I swerved. I skidded across both lanes and flew into a steep ditch nose first. Then I slid and almost rolled my car. It was stopped from rolling by heavy brush.

The first thing I did was jump out of the car because I thought I was in serious danger. After a few seconds I realized I was okay and my car was still running. I jumped back in and got it back onto the road. Then I realized my car was smoking, so I turned it off. I noticed coolant everywhere, and my bumper half off. It dented my fender a bit but besides that it's alright. It ripped my front plate off and a turn signal though.

While I was skidding across the road I totally thought I was going to die right there. I'm extremely thankful I wasn't in a taller car, or I would've rolled several times.

Bro, that sucks. Sounds like it was very nearly a lot worse. Glad you’re okay. I think when it comes to deer, you’re just hoping to choose the least bad alternative. Are you going to be able to fix it?

I'm pretty sure you would've had a lot more damage if you hit the deer. Glad to see you are okay though.

    Re: Don't swerve for deer.

    Here's an update for ya'll:
I drove it home because the weather was cold and it wasn't too far home. It got almost to "Hot" but it got home fine. On the first warm day I'm going to take off the front bumper and find out where it's leaking.

Besides the radiator, the bumper is bent and will probably need replacement. She's extremely out of alignment as well. The windshield was already cracked in another place so it's not a big deal to me.

All in all, I'm happy that first of all I didn't die, and second, she's okay. My biggest concern is finding a bumper that matches her color. Heh.

I believe I read that a little over 100 people get killed every year in a deer accident, so at least you're ok. As to the link to the moose story in the previous post, anyone that drives at night where there's moose knows to keep it slow. And 110 with no seatbelts? 4 accidents in 4 years? Duh.
