did you put my corner lenses on?!?!?!??!!
I'm pleased!
Been working on the cars lately and this is what I needed to do on the white prelude before I caused anymore damage to the poor thing...
The radiator has been leaking pretty badly lately and I've been holding off till it install the newer motor to install the my half rad, but with the cold winter coming, and a job that I cannot be late for, I figured on my time off, I'd make a list of stuff to do, and this is one of those things.
Bracket I made to support the radiator as well as add some support to my damaged lower radiator support, over built? yes! Also ran outta flat stock, and being I drove the car that I would need to get anymore parts, I figured I'd make the other one. so I put the one piece support onto the passenger side of the radiator where the hoses come...
crappy cell phone pic of course, but here is the damaged from the previous owner, Some 10 years ago!!! It looks extra crappy because I stripped the paint from the area(s) i need to tack the new support to.
Installed! I still haven't put on the bumper yet (no issues really to why) and have yet to install the hood (will have to cut out a piece in the hood for clearance of the radiator)
So thats really all i've got to report on this car. Enjoy!
nice vid to Estes park.. been a few years since i got to go up there
1986 Prelude Si (turbo project "medusa")
Fuzz, you've been in the neighborhood huh? I like it. We should try and get a midwest meet up sometime next year! Gio lives in CO too, and his car should be back together by next spring!
Midwest meet! I'm in! My car should be running before the end of the year
Yesss!!!
It would probably just be me, you, and Jared! lol
Hell, it could be the damn motivation Jared needs to get his red lude together!! We joked for awhile who was going to get whos red lude running first! Dammit Jared, pull it together!!!
Alright guys, so here is todays mini update with some teaser pictures!!!
I decided to try and tuck the driverside wiring... let me know what you guys think... btw, I didnt have to cut or splice a single wire!!!
Opened up a hole here to get it into the cowl... 1 3/4" hole
tucked the injector wiring too...
all tidy now!!! wish a I had a dedicated "before" picture...
This kind of gives you an idea of what I started with...
Teaser pics next!!!
A small preview of what to expect next year...
More to come soon...
We need a "like" button on the posts... Looks like I really need to get my shit together now...
Still don't have a turbo or ic piping. The piping i have now isn't going to work! Uggg.
alright, so after about 12+ hours of wire tucking here are my final pictures of the "finished" product....
before... this is the mess that I started with... Uggg this thing has bothered me for years
factory harness
harness moved around... got the fuse box out of the fender and have all the lighting unplugged.
Decided to try and run 30 wires through the damn frame... uggg (this took hours alone!)
every connector was labeled with a unique number so that I was able to wire everything through it... Added 28 inches (would have been better with about 32-33 inches)
Gettin there!
the cut, YIKES!
the other end...
bulk of the wiring done, still need 5 more wires for the Passenger retractor motor...
Done!!
There were a few issues... Popped the passenger retractor and the damn retractor control module by messing up 2 wires... Thats right, 30+ wires and i messed 2 up, and that cost me hours of frustration and those two parts... All in all, and as much as it sucked, I am super pleased with how it turned out...
So here are some more pics of the wire tuck!!
meant to post this one the other day, but damned if I didnt' even take the picture!
Driverside
fenders going back on
driverside fender!!!
artsy!
more artsy!
So thats about it! I did get the car all cleaned back up and I think with lots of adjusting, I was able to get the bumper a bit more level and less droopy on the driverside!
Nice work man, great improvement, the engine bay is looking clean. Really accentuates that giant shiny whales dick though!
On another note, what's the performance like with that small radiator? Do you think radiator efficiency will become an issue when you mount that inter cooler in front of it (and with the turbo/manifold/etc behind)? I'm looking forward to seeing that project take off.
It's a 3 core radiator. I didn't really have any cooling issues with the Del sol. So I'm hoping it works as good with less power and the bumper opening is a little bit bigger on the lude vs the Del sol. Once I'm all moved in and rolling in my job I'll get cracking on this... I'm plenty exited
this is what I got to enjoy my christmas weekend. Some dumbass rear ended my white prelude... Fucker didn't even have the decency to leave a note...
Damn, that sucks! He's right, though, doesn't look too bad..
Yeah wasn't too bad. Had to pull that rear section out so the trunk would close again. Overall not much worse than what it was.
i hate lil set backs. hope you find good replacement
