there has to be something I can do I practically live on here,I do think more people should have the capability to zap spam bots, that would take a load off of the mods, they aren't hard to spot, and the sooner they are stopped the less damage they can do,what about foundation members can do away with them when they see them?

    Re: Moderator team

Thanks for the vote of confidence!

I think I am more effective doing what I do here without being a mod plus...

    1. First thing I do would ban/suspend the scammers like Twoloud and that is not going to happen here.

    2. Require mods to actually own a 1,2, 3gee since this the only automotive enthusiast site I know of that mods don't own the cars.
    EDIT:
    3. I admin a game called UT2004 here at www.clandw.org. I have for years and frankly it sucks having to babysit people that are 25 plus years old and don't know how to behave in public or follow basic rules in an online game. it pretty much takes all the fun out of the game for me.

But I can help with the FAQ. Its easy. Use my "how to check your front end" blurb I wrote yeas ago for the suspension section and my stolen how to verify your Main Relay is bad blurb I have in the EFI section. Both these should be right at the top of the page.

I think I would not ban him, just in case by some miracle he returns and decides to refund people their money. I know, the odds of that happening are exceedingly small, but you never know.

This is a tricky one, because you don't necessarily have to be a subject matter expert to be a good moderator. I think more important traits for a moderator would be critical thinking ability, objectivity, diplomacy, good organizational skills, a passion for serving the community, things like that. But then it also depends on the specific role too. It would be more important to have a subject matter expert in charge of a FAQ/HOWTO forum than it would for say a general or off-topic forum.

Owning a 3g also has very little impact on whether you are a subject matter expert or not. I would bet that most vehicle owners actually know very little about their own cars. But then if you were a professional mechanic you might have a very in depth knowledge of certain vehicles from working on them all the time, but never have actually owned one.

Having said that, when I read the solicitation for new mods my first thought was, "Hey that might be kinda fun, but I've never actually owned a 3g and I would feel weird about being mod because of that."

    Exactly my point.

I would also look for people that would be those face to face people. The ones who own the cars and go to shows to rub elbows with people. To help promote the site and cars.

    Re: Moderator team

I was think more like this. Cuz there are a lot of people on here that make custom parts/sale that if they had a place to show case them it would be easyer to find them and bring new people to the site. Just a idea. http://www.d-series.org/forums/d-series-affiliate-forums/

Thanks for the vote of confidence Gio! I would mod the CP forum, and maybe a fab and tools forum if we had one. That would be fun I think.
