    New Wheels for the 87!

Well I have been having such a hard time figuring out what wheels I wanted to get for this car. I really wanted some SSR's and then I wanted some Enkei's and then I wanted some Rota Slips. But nothing really seemed that good! I really wanted to do something different. So I went with these. I got them from a guy off Import Atlanta. They are 94 OEM Accord rims. They are the 4x144.3 and mine is 4x100 so I have some figuring out to do with that. I have a buddy that works at a machine shop, so they might get redrilled or I might do adapters. The big kicker is that I am going to fully polish them. So I started this thread to show you the progress as they come along.

Here they are like I got them spray painted gun metal color.

This is after today. I wet sanded with 400 grit. Still got a long ways to go.

The polish look is something different but not bad. If you do run adapters, remember that these will stick out a bit.

Oh really! The adapters I am getting are 1". Do you think I could work that with these wheels? I have been worried about this!

I was checking that those wheels have an +46 offset, so if you add the 1" plate, it would look like it has +21 offset wheels

but it will only be a 6 inch wheel with a 21+ offset, it will look fine... In my Ba-B16 thread i have a wheel offset calculator that will tell you how far out/in your wheel will be compared to a wheel you currently have on the car!

Yeah thanks for the help guys! I got some 1" spacers from work and spaced the wheels out to see and it looks like it will work fine. Especially with the camber I have. Looks almost flush. So I think I am going with some 195/50 tires. Shouldn't rub too much at all.

They shouldn't rub at all unless you have no camber and are fairly low. Your adapter width will have to be wider than the length of your wheel studs from end to rotor or else you'll have to cut your studs down. The smallest adapter you can safely run is 18mm if you want to really eliminate the worry of rubbing. That would have them almost stock. Or if you're going for a little more aggressive fitment, you could order wider adapters, lowering your offset further, and Federal makes a 165/45r15 that would give you a little bit of stretch. Just remember, to have a 6" wide wheel "flush" you'll need a hefty adapter, and that will be hard on your wheel bearings. My wheels were x7 and -11 and they didn't really ever rub. If you have any issues with rubbing just roll the inner lip on your fenders and that should have you set.

Well here is the progress so far on the first wheel. I have about 10 hours in this one. I sanded down between the spokes and painted it silver this weekend. And wet sanded with 800 and 1500. Today I buffed on it just a little with the Mothers polish and it already looks awesome. All the time I have spent on this wheel is paying off. All I got left is a little more polishing and clear coating them. I got my spacers and lug nuts ordered and should have them soon. Let me know what you think guys! Thanks

How did you get into the small areas around the lug holes? My wheels are still super dirty.

I have a small cylinder shaped wire brush attachment for the drill at work. I just ran it through the holes a few times.

Got the adapters today. I really like them and they will work out perfectly!

Also I figured I would throw this in there. I have had a Go Pro Camera for a couple of months now and I picked up the suction mount. Should have some Accord videos up after I get my wheels.
