    R.I.P 85 Hatch

Last friday I received the latest purchase for my 1985 LX Hatchback, a pair of 14" alloys. After fitting them my friends dad decided to rip out the grinder and remove the rust from the body. So after lots of grinding and sanding we removed what we thought was most of the rust. The rear hatch door however had many holes and gaps in the panels. I decided to leave it with my mate so they could weld some new sheets and cover up the rust.

So I picked the car up today to find my rear windscreen smashed and a HUGE amount of rust all over the back of the hatch door. I have decided that I will take my hatch to the wreckers tomorrow to see what they will offer me for it. I paid $500 for the car and have spent another $300 on stereo/audio car seat cover.

If there is nothing you can do, may it rest in peace!........but before you do that, see if anybody want to buy parts off of it.

Sucks man! Rust is definitely a top killer of these cars. You going to get another one?

Yea, well I think it just has tooo much rust its just not worth. The motor is in TIP TOP condition, just needs new spark plugs.

And 2ndGen I already have my eye on a 88 EX and 87 LX , both sedan manuals :P

I think I've actually found someone whose keen to buy the hatch, I just really need to find a new hatch door!!!

The rustroy seemed to kill most of the rust on the roof of the car, but the back is just f**cked.

Would that 85 hatch motor fit in my 85 accord sedan?

The motors an ET1, so I don't see why not. But alas, I'm situated in New Zealand so its gonna cost a tonne in shipping if you want it.
