    Crankshaft Nut removal.

Alrigtht need to take the crankshaft pulley off and have no way to get the nut off. Is there any way I can get it off without anything attached. I have no head on the block and there is no trans, so cant hold the flywheel while I turn it off, is there any other way without using a impact gun?

it doesnt have to hold the crank compleatly still, but it should work.

Even wrap a ratchet strap around the pully a few times attatch it to the frame or body of the car tighten it up as tight as you can.

Stabilize the pulley (Vice, vice grips, pliers, channel lock) and spin the bolt out.

Well the engines in the back of my truck, but I was thinking of trying a leather belt wrapped around backward and trying with a breaker bar, if that doesnt work ill try one of my ratchet straps....hell the work good for coil springs, why not crank pulleys. Dont know why i didnt think about this sooner. ill try these tomorrow.

put something between the flywheel & block to hold it still, and then use something with lots of leverage to get the bolt loose

That would be awefully hard since theres no flywheel attached.

On my toyota I took out the cyl 1 spark plug, stuck a nice thick rope in there, then gave her hell with a big breaker bar. Came right off.

Id try the strap scenario first but ,do you have any flat stock you can bolt to the block (where the head goes) and do the stuff the stuff the rope deal.

so no head, no flywheel, no nothing? i'd really think you needed at least the flywheel, good luck man, i know if it was torqued to spec it shouldn't be too hard, you don't have a flywheel you could bolt on just to wedge against?

couldnt you just put the bolts in the back of crank where flywheel goes leave em sticking out a bit slid a pry bar between them and hold crank that way.

Could'nt you just take a chain wrench to the crank pulley to hold it in place?
