Has anyone thought of doing a top mount intercooler set up before? Would have to cut the hood to get air in but I think it would look sweet. maybe its just me.

Don't think it's been done. Why would you want to do it though??
1) Its not a subaru 2) Where would you mount it? I don't know if you've notice but the 3gee hood sits pretty low. If you want to be the first, go for it. I would rather have a FMI any day!

I could see the benefit from top mount. Shorter ic piping. But if that's what you want, I would do a air to water intercooler instead, and benefit more....
imo it would look like complete shit. My engine sits like 1/2" away from the hood, and in order to get clearance for adequate airflow youd def need more than that and a hood scoop etc. FMIC is def the way to go unless your a full race guy and like air/water intercooling, but you pay a weight penalty and they get heat soaked fast for a street application. Air/water might be the way to go for a full race application.

Do a front mount.
Top mount will get a lot of heat soak, plus youll have to cut the hood. Why would you want to do that?

I was going to use a top mount when I installed my turbo, but it was because that's what I had a surplus of and I was building it on a $201x budget. I had 2 of them, and it wouldn't have been difficult to fit one where the battery goes. I have NO problem cutting a hood, because we have a louver cutter.
