    Cool Hello

Whats up everyone. My name is Kyle and I'm 19. I have a 89 accord lxi. I bought it back in June/July with about 87k miles on it. I just hit the 100k mark, so i decided it was time to join the forum (idk why i waited).

A little about myself. Im currently a sophomore and a civil engineering major at Penn State berks (final semester then up to University Park!!!!!). I know some things about cars and repairs, but nothing too extensive. I had a 88 Chevy C1500 that had about 80k miles on it when I sold it due to the extreme gas prices. That thing was a tank (as in take out two mailboxes and only have a small dent on the hood) and I miss it.

    Now to the fun stuff.

My 89 honda accord lxi. I love this car. Since I've bought it I haven't had too much problems with it. I'm the third owner of this car. The first was a certified honda mechanic who bought it for his wife. When she passed away he sold the car. The second owner bought it with 54k on it back in 05. He lived in Saudi Arabia, so this was his car when he was home is the US. He realized he could just borrow one of his family members cars instead of paying for insurance on a car he was driving for two weeks out of the year.
When I met the people selling the car, they said it was garage kept(straight lie; paint was mad faded) and it has three rust spots (see pictures). But other than that, everything seemed to check out and it ran good.

Back in october/november, my FITV took a crap. So i replaced that after having a mechanic clean the broken part and charging me almost 100 bucks. That took two weeks, and even the mechanic wasnt complete sure what was wrong, until he cleaned it and it "ran perfectly fine", which it didnt cause when i got the car back it started idling mad fast and the tach started bouncing when it was warm. Then back in december, the stock head unit took a crap and i got that replaced. Currently, my alternator is starting to go, the front two speakers are shot and i need to replace the torque rod bushings and the timing belt. I also seem to have a problem with my valve stems leaking air. I had all but one replaced so far. But other than that, she runs like a beaut.

I wasn't able to add pics so ill try later

I'm sure i forgot something about her. So glad I bought this car though

    Re: Hello

    More on the car:
i just pulled of the wheel to see how bad changing the shock absorbers are going to be and i found that the inside of the tire is worn and the tires were fairly new when i got the car.
I also checked my battery charge while the car is running and its a little below 12v so changing the alternator is a necessity and asap. Im pretty sure i have a leaking injector(s) so that maybe another project.

so much to do and so little time

    Welcome!

The car looks fine besides the rust, but with some dedication (and time lol) it's nothing too big (at least, it seems so)...

Other than the rust and the bumper it looks good. It seems like you know what you're doing. 100k is nothing to these cars, I took a pics of when it reaches 300k! lol

    Re: Hello

The only thing is that the equalizer doesn't work anymore. When i got the new head unit, the one guy at bestbuy broke the part that plugged into the back of the stock head unit. I was surprised how long the stock head unit lasted. It only went this past november. The only thing that bothers me about the car is that it seems EVERYTHING is original when i bought it, like from the radio (which is fine to me, the more original the better) to the struts (which has me pretty worried).

But two new axles, two lower arm bushings, and all new struts should make her feel like new.
