    205/65R15 tire recommendations...?

Hi Guys. I’m looking for some tires recommendations. I need 4 new 205/65R15 tires for my Accord.

I believe that the original OEM recommend speed rating is V.

The local shop that has a sale this weekend offers only the following brands:

    BFGoodrich
    Cooper
    General
    Goodyear
    Kumho
    Uniroyal

I can basically order any tire model any of these brands offer. My driving style is normal and very average, mostly highways. I live in the upper Midwest and we can have long winters with a lot of snow and ice. I’d like to try to keep one year round set for the car for both summer and winter so what do you more experienced guys recommend for a good all-season tire? If I look at H and/or T speed ratings it really gives me much more to choose from than just the V rating options.

    Thanks!

If you're talking about a 1986-1989 Accord, the factory tire size is definitely NOT P205/65R15...

    1986-1989 DX/LX: P185/70R13
    1986-1987 LX-i: P185/70R13
    1988-1989 LX-i: P195/60R14 85H
    1989 SE-i: P195/60R14 85H

I can't find any information on the OEM speed and weight ratings for the older models with 13" wheels...

Thanks Charlie. I'm actually looking for my 98 Accord. I have gotten so much good information for my 89 Accord on this site I thought I'd pose the question for the 98.

Ah, the model year is some good information to post on here. From what you said I'm guessing you have an EX sedan or an LX coupe/sedan. The factory tire size is P205/65R15 92V.

I actually just bought a set of Kumho's and they're pretty damn nice. They're quiet and they have pretty good grip in the rain and snow. I have yet to really try them on dry road as it's been raining and snowing here for the past month.

I always hear good things about BFG.

Thanks Charlie. Yes, it's an EX V6 sedan. I have been doing a lot of research on the internet and these 3 keep coming up...

    General Altimax HP
    Michelin MXV4
    BFGoodrich Advantage T/A

Do you have any knowledge of any of these? Thanks!

Michelin MXV's have been around forever - that's they're standard tire. The Advantage is something I recall to be a good tire, but I haven't heard of the General brand at all, haha.

I could not fathom that tire size for a 3G, unless the wheels had been replaced, and even then I suspected they would have been WAY TOO BIG (diameter) for the speedo to read anything close to OE.... OK, now it is clear.
If it ain't broke... I fix it!

Im running that size on the Hatch on Saturn steelies with no issues.
On the LX I have P205/60/R15 in the back and P195/65/R15 on the front. The plan is to replace the rear with the P195/65 as well.
Kelly Chargers, and Kumos are pretty decent IMO.

I can't imagine needing a speed rated V on a V6 Accord, not mandatory anyway! Those may be a little sticky which could sacrifice some MPG...then again Im no expert at the tire rack.

I bought Kumho's for my stock 88 and for the price and quality I do like the brand. https://www.3geez.com/forum/showthread.php?t=76489
