Brake upgrades

The Performance FAQ seems to be a little bit off on the subject of brakes. I went to look up parts to upgrade my 84 and found the following:

82-83 Accords have 9.1" front discs.
84-87 Accords all have 9.5" front discs, as do 88-89 carbed models.
88-89 EFI Accords have 10.3" front discs.

The upgrade mentioned in the FAQ, then, is actually part of the 2.5g update.

I suspect the 10.3" setup from 88-89 EFI cars would bolt right onto our cars. You would probably need 14" wheels to clear those brakes.

The actual rotor sizes for each application are, respectively:

231mm x 17mm
242mm x 19mm
262mm x 21mm

Can i do this upgrade on a 82 accord 4 door?

Is it just replacing calipers and rotors or do i need to fabricate a support

And what about the rear drums, can i convert to disks in the back?

Rear disc brakes from a 2g Prelude can be fitted to the 2g Accord, the how-to is here:

The fronts from an 88-89 LXi should just bolt on, all you would need is the calipers and caliper brackets, pads and rotors and possibly brake lines. The only way I can think of that it would be different is if the 86-87 Accord had two different front hubs, which seems unlikely.

Keep in mind I say all this without actually having tried the swap. There may be something I don't know about. However, it's cheap enough to try and report back to us if it worked... hint hint...

Is this swap really good? i bought the car and hace never driven it, i am still gathering things to fix it, but don`t know if the actual set up is poor in performance, or can i be ok with this set up

You should drive the car before planning a lot of upgrades. The 2g Accord was among the most fun cars I've owned. It was always a joy to drive as it was. The only upgrade I would really recommend there is if you have the three-speed auto trans. If so, throw it out and replace it with either a 4-speed auto from an '83 (bolt-in replacement) or a manual (more involved). The three-speed does 4k RPM at 70. That sucks and is completely inappropriate for US freeways. The 4-speed brings that down to a more reasonable 3,200 or so.
